A fence is a structural element you live with every day for thirty years. Post-depth, footing quality, and detailing at gates and corners determine whether it leans by year five or stays plumb forever.

Frequently asked
Do I need a permit for a fence in Vancouver?
For most residential fences under 6 ft, no permit is required in Vancouver — but front-yard fences and corner lots have specific height and setback rules that vary by municipality. We confirm requirements for your property during the site visit and handle any permit submission if needed.
What's the best fence material for the West Coast climate?
Cedar is the traditional West Coast choice — handles wet winters well if installed with proper drainage at the posts. Vinyl is the most maintenance-free and weatherproof. Aluminum suits modern architecture and oceanfront properties because it does not rust or rot. Chain link remains the cheapest option for utility uses.
How long does fence installation take?
A typical residential fence (50–100 linear feet) takes 1–3 days of on-site work once the posts have set. Larger jobs (200+ linear feet) or complex grade changes take 1–2 weeks. Concrete cure time on the posts is built into the schedule.
Will you remove my old fence as part of the job?
Yes — full demolition and disposal of the existing fence is included in our standard quote. We dispose of cedar at a recycler where possible and haul vinyl, aluminum, or chain link to the appropriate facility.
